How you’re helping us get child refugees into school
The World Humanitarian Summit has just drawn to a close in Istanbul.
Over the course of two days we joined governments, charities, companies and many others to help tackle some of the greatest challenges the world faces today.
Messages of hope
Before the summit, many of you joined us in asking world leaders to make sure no child refugee misses out on school for more than a month.
Thousands of you wrote moving messages that we compiled, along with messages from child refugees, into books. We handed one of those books to David Cameron on the eve of the summit.
Making a difference
The summit itself was a whirlwind of meetings and discussions. Each time we met a delegate we pushed our call for a new deal for refugee children and urged them to back it.
Over the course of the first day it became clear that our message – and the messages you had shared – were having an impact.
Leaders from around the world, along with businesses, began to back our calls. They recognised its urgency as we highlighted that 3.5 million child refugees are currently out of school.
Paving the way
This has helped lay foundations for two summits in New York in September, where we hope to see further action taken to make the new deal for child refugees a reality.
Your support has got the new deal on world leaders’ agendas – now we must push them to make it a reality.
Join our call for education for all child refugees.
