January… February… MARCH

I started the year with good intentions, as always, and gave up on my new year’s resolutions by approximately midday on January 1st.  Then Lent came and went.  I stuck to the pancakes side of the deal and thought really hard about giving up chocolate.  If I’ve learnt anything this year it’s that I’m not very good at motivating myself to change for the better.

Luckily, when it comes to trying to change other people, I’m less talk and more action.

I was lucky enough to spend a week at the Secretariat in Hammersmith a few weeks ago.  The team are so excited about the campaigning opportunites we have this year to make real change for children and also about working more closely with Save the Children UK.  At the moment they’re in Sarajevo launching a global debate on the relationship between education and peace as part of our Rewrite the Future campaign.

Next week the UN General Assembly on Education in Emergencies is another opportunity for us to lobby those with the power to change children’s lives.

But the big moment for me is on Saturday 28 March, when thousands of us will gather in London ahead of the G20 meeting to tell the world’s most powerful people that it’s time to for them to take action.  It’s time we put children first.  There are loads of ways to get involved.  Let’s get marching.
