Campaigners find their voice

This weekend saw the launch of our innovative ‘Time for Action’ audio-visual petition at WOMAD and Camp Bestival

We met so many wonderful people, had some great conversations and got thousands of signatures for our petition which is calling for investment in more health workers around the world.

Thank you to everyone who came and took part.

“We had such an amazing response at Camp Bestival.  It was great to speak to people, you could sense their outrage that millions of children are still dying because they’re too poor to see a doctor or nurse,” said Saira O’Mallie, Campaigner Save the Children

Touring

Time for Action will be touring festivals and shopping centres throughout the summer.  If you see us please come over and say hello, find out a bit more about the campaign and add your voice.

Seriously, come and say hello if you can – we’ll be at the following festivals and shopping centres: Bristol Balloon Festival, Wilderness, V Festival, London Mela, Southampton Westquay shopping centre 24-28th August, Manchester Arndale Centre 31-4 September and Birmingham Bullring 8-11th September.

Tell your MP ‘We care about kids!’

Throughout August and September we’ll be working in local communities to influence MPs.  From Witney to Sheffield we’ll be finding local choirs and campaigners to add more voices to our campaign and show their MP it’s time for action.

If you are a member of a choir or feel strongly that you’d like your MP to know you care about kids please email Annabel and she’ll send you our health worker campaign pack.

What happens next?

The serious side to all of this is of course to show the UK government ordinary people care about kids and want them to do more to stop needless child deaths.

In September the Prime Minister is going to a UN meeting of world leaders.  We need to put as much pressure on him as possible in the run-up to this meeting to ensure he takes a lead on health workers.

If you haven’t yet done it please sign our petition now (we’ll send up updates and more actions you can take in the run up to the meeting in September).
