Wow what a weekend! On Sunday 18 September we had over 75 runners taking part in the Great North Run for Save the Children.
All the runners did brilliantly – surviving the torrential rain and then the bright sunshine! A massive thank you to everyone who took part, and also for the volunteers who supported Team Save the Children team along the way.
So far over £55,000 has been raised – with over £46,000 coming from Team Morrisons. It is brilliant that the money they raised will be going towards Save the Children’s fantastically diverse work – from Morrisons raising money for our Families and Schools Together (FAST) programmes in the UK to Emma and Mark who are raising money for our East Africa emergency appeal to Siobhan who is supporting our No Child Born to Die campaign
We also heard interesting stories at the cheering point near mile 12 of the route from the Save the Children volunteers. Limo (below far left), has worked with Save the Children in Kenya plus Les (second from the left) ran the first ever Great North Run over 30 years ago!
Roger and Alma Vila from the Seaham Save the Children branch have raised a fantastic amount and managed to walk the route with a massive Save the Children – amazing support.
