Brighton marathon: get ready to make some noise

It looks as if the sun has come out just in time for the start of marathon season. And there couldn’t be a better place to kick it off than along the beautiful Brighton coastline.

This Sunday 25 people will be taking on the 26-mile seaside challenge for Save the Children and we will be there  to help them reach that all important finish line.

Our marathon runners between them will raise over £12,000 for Save the Children’s life saving work.

To put that into perspective, this is enough to support two rural health centres for three months, bringing lifesaving medicines and medical supplies to more than 2,000 people. All those miles of sweat, aching and blisters and really do help save lives.

So if you are in Brighton this weekend, please come along to our cheering point and help us show our runners that their hard work is hugely appreciated.

Our Save the Children cheering squad will be making lots of noise around the mile 6 marker on Marine Parade, close to Arundel House. Look out for lots of red and white (t-shirts/balloons/banners/flags etc) and friendly people cheering very loudly and come and join us!

We will provide all cheerers with musical instruments, cheering sticks and a Save the Children t-shirt – but feel free to bring along any other noise-making equipment (pots and pans included!).

We will be there come rain or shine, suncream or umbrellas (fingers crossed any April showers will stay away) so bring comfortable clothing and prepare for all the elements. And get practising those chants (personally, I’m going to be doing a rendition of PJ and Duncan’s 90s classic ‘let’s get ready to rhumble’).

Look out for our cheering point - it will look similar to this.

We will also be at the Brighton Marathon Exhibition at the Brighton Centre on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 April. So come to our stand to meet the team and find out more about our work.

In the meantime, GOOD LUCK to all our runners who truly are doing some thing amazing this weekend- listen out for our cheers!
