What a brilliant day we had at the Virgin London Marathon 2012 on Sunday!
A team of 90 amazing supporters ran the event for Save the Children and are on target to raise £115,000.
After uncertainty with the weather forecast, they set off in sunshine and most of them crossed the finish line before the rain started. All the runners did brilliantly.
A HUGE thank you…
to everyone who took part, and also to the volunteers who supported Team Save the Children along the way.
With cheering squads at Surrey Quays and Embankment, we tried to keep spirits up and legs moving with renditions of ‘Eye of the Tiger’ on the kazoo and lots of shouts of support.
It was incredibly emotional to see everyone taking part, some of them sprinting past us with enough energy to high-five, others gritting their teeth to get through the pain barrier.
I’m always stunned by our runners who make a big physical and fundraising commitment to take part and so proud of them when they finish, knowing the difference they’ve made to children’s lives.
We hope all our runners are resting their legs with their medals proudly worn around their necks…see you next year!
